The Players of Seminole Lakes
Walt Van Beers
Walt a
resident in Seminole Lakes, winters here, and in
the summer can be found in Pennsylvania.
He had his
first Hole-in-One last week on our course. In
his foursome were Norm Kellerman, John Minchak
and Rob Stephenson. They all attest to the
effort of Walt with his 5 wood on the tee box at
#14, high fives all around and Walt bought the
adult beverages. The Pro Shop did an impromptu
interview and it follows. |

Our Hidden Gem at
Seminole Lakes
Cynthia Taylor
It's been
said by many that staying active contributes to
our well being and longevity. Recently a
respected Medical Research facility in Sweden
said that golf adds 5 years to our life. Both of
those statements have validity when we look at
our own golfers at Seminole.
Let us
introduce to you Cynthia Taylor, at 93, yes we
said 93, she plays golf with regularity. With
the Foxy Ladies and with her children Cindy and
John. Cynthia recently participated in a Charity
Tournament at St. Andrews put on by the
Charlotte Professional Business Women, and many
times saved, her teams bacon! Just ask her about
the 'flush job' she did on the putting green! So
with Cynthia's sense of humor and determination
we present What's in Your Bag. |
What's in your Bag Cynthia? |
Pro Shop: |
What is your
favorite club? |
Cynthia: |
After my rotator cuff surgery all I could use
was my 7 iron, and I got used to it. I use it
around the greens a lot and of course went back
to using my other clubs as I recovered. |
| |
PS: |
Most unusual
thing in your bag? |
Cynthia: |
Me! |
| |
PS: |
Do you have a
special putter or a story behind it? |
Cynthia: |
On my wedding anniversary my husband gave me one
of the first Ping Putters. |
| |
PS: |
What is your
dream threesome? |
Cynthia: |
My children and I. Cindy, John, Myself. |
| |
PS: |
How many times do
you play a week? |
Cynthia: |
I
would play every day if I had someone to play
with, as it is 2-3 times a week. |
| |
PS: |
Any memorable
rounds and with who? |
Cynthia: |
Well, the recent Whacky Wiffers, a charity fund
raiser. Margie, Joyce, Geri and I. We had a good
time hitting the ball off the tee with oven
mitts, and on our first tee, we had to hit the
ball with a water balloon between our knees. |
| |
PS: |
Any advice for
golfers? |
Cynthia: |
Play your own game, instead of someone else's. |
